The Czech Republic in Schengen - changes in practice
In principle, joining the common Schengen area means the abolition of checks at the common (internal) borders between countries which are applying the Schengen provisions of enhanced cooperation between the police, judicial and other authorities.
This step is connected with a number of changes which shall reflect in the travel of EU citizens as well as third-country nationals. Some rules differ for different categories of travellers, and although a large part of the Schengen provisions are fully applied in the Czech Republic, 1 September 2007, 21 December 2007 and 30 March 2008 bring some significant changes.
Therefore, before setting out on a journey, it is most advisable to seek information on the applicable conditions regarding travel in the Schengen area.
